But now I may have to try some after seeing your success with it. The plane was finished with a 1/16" ball by amada- which has a tapered shaft. i've got a lot to learn with importing STL or true 3D files into relief's. it reminds me of one of those pictures that incorporate holograms- you have to be in the right position to see it plainly. I wasn't happy with it and i'm still not. so there was an unexpected learning curve there too). it was an STL import (which that particular function is hidden in vcarve until you attempt to import. ![]() The plane is a piper cub and painted like my friends- i guess they mean something or were some sort of trainer bird for the military and painted as such. where as cramming stuff in there does the opposite. it's the equiv of 'white space' in print or web design- it imparts a sense of calm. i absolutely see what you're saying, though. perhaps i've not discovered a way to make the font's available work for me or maybe there is something glaring i am missing- but unless i start with a vbit and then run other toolpaths that plane off the mess the vbit makes- not one time has it worked out as good as even an end mill. unless the text is incredibly shallow, i just don't get it. I think the same may be true for the airplane plaque. It is tempting to make the model as large as possible but added space might improve the overall look. My first impression is that it has no room to run. Second I feel the horse is a bit crowded in the dish. I think you would be able to enlarge the letters slightly for more clarity. The text around the dish would crisper and easier to read if cut with a V bit. I am offering some suggestions for the future.
